SETH

Chapter 7

Seth   Chapter 7  TV

I was sitting in the food court when my cellphone rang. “Where are you?” asked Stacy. I told her where I was. She told me not to leave until she got there. Ten minutes later, I saw her walking my way. She was holding hands with Craig. Maggie was trailing behind them.

I frowned as they approached. Craig was the last person I wanted to see. I was still worried about Blake, and I remembered his threat to me when he left my bedroom last night.

“Hey, Dude,” smiled Craig as she pulled out a chair and sat down beside me. Stacy scowled and sat closely beside him. I was beginning to sense that Stacy felt intimidated every time her boyfriend talked to me. If she only knew what he was doing behind her back.

“Hi,” I responded nervously. “What’s going on?”

Surprisingly, Craig smiled and said, “Stacy told me you’re taking my cousin, Roni, to the dance next weekend.” I glanced quickly at Stacy before responding. I was beginning to wish that I had kept my mouth shut about taking Roni to the dance. Our plan was to show up separately and act like we were together. Now, it looked like we would be officially going on a date.

I hesitated a moment before responding. Craig didn’t appear to be upset about me taking his cousin, but I was still unsure how he would respond. “Um,” I replied nervously, “Yeah. I guess. We talked about it.”

“That’s great,” he said. “I told her last week she should ask you.” He then gave me a slight wink without Stacy seeing. I was curious if he knew Roni had a girlfriend. I looked at Stacy, and she seemed to be upset.

“I don’t think it is a good idea,” she remarked.

“Me either” chimed in Maggie. Craig looked over and gave them an angry look.

“Why?” asked Craig. “Because she’s a lesbian.” Well, at least now I knew that he was aware of Roni’s sexuality. “She ain’t hurting no one,” he replied angrily. “She wants to go to the dance, and she can’t take Cindy.” That answered my other question.

Stacy whined, “Why does it have to be Seth, though?”

“Why not?” asked Craig as he gave my sister an angry look.

“Well,” replied Stacy as her face reddened. “People will be thinking that…”

“That what?” interrupted Craig. “That your brother is gay?” He looked at me and winked slightly.

“Well, yeah,” said Stacy. Maggie was going to say something, but Craig interrupted her.

“Christ, Stacy,” replied Craig. “You’re his sister. Wouldn’t you know if he is gay?”

Stacy looked at me and her eyes widened. “Well?” asked Craig. “Wouldn’t you?”

“I don’t know,” replied Stacy.

“Well,” insisted Craig. “I would. I’ve known Seth since the first grade. Guys talk. I’ve never heard anyone say anything about Seth.” He laughed and added, “Well, except he can be a nerd once in a while.”

“You got that right,” laughed Maggie. I looked at her and gave her an angry look.

Craig took Stacy’s hand and held it. “It will be okay. Seth is just a nice guy who is taking my cousin to the class dance. Just let them have fun. Okay?” Stacy looked at me and nodded her head.

I couldn’t believe what had just happened. He erased any doubt in Stacy’s mind that I am gay. When he turned to me and gave me another slight wink, I knew what he was doing. He was trying to make Stacy realize that I am straight. That way, she would never suspect that something was going on between us.

Craig snapped his fingers. “I got an idea.”

Stacy gave him a puzzled look and asked, “What?”

Craig looked over at me and asked, “How about we go over to Roni’s now, and the two of you can discuss your date.”

“It’s not a date,” I insisted.

Craig laughed and replied, “You’re picking Roni up to take her to a dance on Saturday. I would call that a date.” I was going to tell him that Roni and I would be arriving separately, but Stacy interrupted.

“Craig,” she whined. “You told me you were going to spend the day with me.”

“We will be,” he replied.

“But I don’t want to spend it at Roni’s house,” she pouted. Maggie chimed in and said she didn’t want to go either.

“Then I’ll drop you two off at Maggie’s,” he suggested, “and I’ll come back and get you after Seth and me go over to Roni’s.”

Stacy’s eyes narrowed as she glanced at me. “Why, Craig?” I gave him a puzzled look too. I couldn’t understand why he would want to be with me and Roni instead of Stacy.

He replied, “I haven’t seen Roni in a couple of months. I’d just like to spend some time with her. This would give me a reason to go.”

“I think it sucks,” angrily replied Stacy. She rose from the seat and looked over at Maggie. “Come on,” she spat, “I’m leaving.”

Craig rose and ran after her. “Come on, Baby,” he apologized. “Why are you getting upset?”

Stacy pointed to me and responded, “Because you would rather spend the day with my brother than me.”

“It’s not like that,” he insisted. “Besides, why are you being so stupid?”

“Stupid!” screamed Stacy. “Now I’m stupid?” She grabbed Maggie’s hand, looked down at me and ordered, “Seth, take me to Maggie’s.” When I didn’t move, she shouted, “Now, Seth!”

Craig grabbed my arm and whispered, “Take her to Maggie’s, then come back here. I’ll be waiting for you.” I wanted to tell him no, but then Stacy would wonder what we were talking about. I turned and left, trailing Stacy and Maggie out of the building.

To say Stacy was upset would be an understatement. She ranted all the way to Maggie’s house. Maggie kept insisting that she should break up with him. I was completely lost as to what was going on. Why had he wanted to go to Roni’s? And why was he risking losing Stacy to do it. I was also confused why he wanted me to return to the mall. Everything seemed to have gotten out of hand so quickly. None of it made any sense.

I was soon to find out what was going on. It was as if Craig knew when I dropped Stacy and Maggie off. I had no sooner pulled away when I got a text from Craig.

Im waitin on you

I wanted to text him back and tell him I didn’t want to see him, but I was curious why he wanted me to come back. Maybe he did want to visit his cousin, and he wanted me to go with him. Roni and I hadn’t really made any plans other than agreeing to go.

Craig was waiting for me. He gave me a wide smile when I approached. “Hey, Seth. I guess Stacy is really mad at me. Isn’t she?”

“I don’t understand what is going on,” I replied. “Why did you make her mad just so you could go over to Roni’s?”

He replied angrily, “If I want to visit my cousin, I will. Stacy doesn’t own me.” He rose, threw his arm around my shoulder and said, “Come on.” As we headed out of the food court, I moved away so he would remove his arm. I was afraid someone from school might see us, and they would question why Craig was so close to me.

We went out to the parking lot, and Craig motioned at his car. “I’m parked over there.”

I pointed the other direction and said, “I’m over there.”

“We’ll ride together in my car,” he suggested. “I’ll bring you back and pick your car up when we get through.”

I gave him a skeptical look. I didn’t like the way he said, “When we get through.” Reluctantly, I followed him to his car and got in.

As he pulled out, he said, “I gotta stop by the house to pick up something.” Again, I felt uncomfortable. We didn’t say much on the way to his house. When we arrived, he patted me on my leg and said, “Come on in for a minute while I change clothes.”

Warning bells began to ring inside my head. He wanted me to go to his room while he changed in front of me. I knew I should have stayed in the car and waited, but I got out and followed him into his house.

When we entered, I looked around to see if anyone else was in the house. No one seemed to be there. I asked, “Where is everyone?”

“They’re visiting my aunt,” he said. “They shouldn’t be home until later tonight.”

Suddenly, I became scared. Craig and I were alone. I wasn’t afraid of Craig because I knew he wouldn’t hurt me. However, he is much larger than me, and if he tried to force me to do something, I wouldn’t be able to put up too much resistance.

We entered his bedroom, and he closed and locked the door. He walked over to a closet and pulled out a pair of pants. He then went over to a dresser and removed a clean tee shirt. He pointed to the bed and told me to sit down. He then walked over, placed the clean clothes on the bed beside me.

He smelled his armpits and said, “I need to take a shower.” I was astonished when he began to undress. Within a minute, he was standing naked in front of me. I know I should have gotten up and left, but I couldn’t. I was mesmerized by his trim and muscled body. Even though I had seen him naked in the hospital room, seeing him only inches from me was amazing.

Craig pulled me off the bed and gently pushed me to my knees. “I’ve been wanting this all day,” he said breathlessly. I now understood what had happened in the food court. He intentionally made Stacy mad so we could come here and have sex.

“Come on, Seth,” he begged as he pushed me to the floor. “I need this.” I knew it was wrong, but I did as he asked .

I should have been scared, but I wasn’t. I wanted it as much as Craig did. I was just curious how far he would want to go. He convinced me to take a shower with him. When we entered, he just stood and looked at me. He smiled and said, “I can’t believe this is happening.”

Craig was dressed when I entered the room afterwards. He pointed to my clothes on the floor. “Get dressed, and I’ll take you back to the mall to pick up your car.”

His attitude had completely changed. He was cold and distant. He was talking to me like before. I think he regretted what we had just done. I asked, “Are you okay?” He ignored me and left the room. I finished dressing and headed downstairs looking for him.

He was in the kitchen drinking a soda. He had put one on the counter for me. When I entered, he grabbed it and handed it to me. I sat, and we didn’t talk for several minutes. I finally asked, “Are you okay?”

“What we just did, you can’t tell anyone. Got it?” I nodded my head. “I mean it, Seth.” He gave me an angry look. “If you tell anyone, I’ll hurt you. Got it?” Again, I nodded my head.

I asked, “Do you regret what we just did?”

He smiled slightly, and then frowned. “No,” he replied. “I don’t regret it. But I ain’t gay. What we just did ain’t gay. It’s just something that we both wanted.”

I smiled and asked, “Do you think we can do it again sometime?”

He seemed surprised by my question. As far as I was concerned, we could do it every day. I really enjoyed it. He grinned and said, “Maybe.” Suddenly, an astonished look appeared on his face.

“What?” I asked.

He walked over, looked at my neck and spat, “Damn!”

I was worried about his outburst. I didn’t know what was wrong. “What is it?”

He replied angrily, “I gave you a hickey!” He ran his hand over my neck. I remembered him kissing the side of my neck, but I didn’t even consider that he might leave a mark.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me back upstairs. “Where are we going?” I asked.

We entered what looked like the master bedroom. He pulled me over to a dresser and searched through some items on the top. He then told me to sit on the bed as he opened a container. “What are you doing?”

“Sit still,” he ordered. “I’m putting some of my mother’s makeup on it. No one can see this.” I sat quietly as he applied the creamy substance to the side of my neck. When he finished, he handed the bottle to me. “Keep it covered,” he told me. “I don’t want anyone asking how you got a hickey.”

I put it in my pocket, and I followed him out to his car. We didn’t say anything on the way to the mall. When I started to get out of the car, he grabbed my arm. “Remember what I said.” I nodded. He added, “Thanks.” I got out of the car with a wide grin on my face.
